Official Rules
1. Tournament Description
The Xbox Live "PGR3 Global Tournament" ("the Tournament") is a live skill based contest in which contestants ("Players") compete against other Players on the Xbox Live gaming platform until an overall champion is determined. Prizes will be awarded to the overall Tournament winner as set forth below.
The Tournament is an event organised by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, United States ("Microsoft").
These Official Rules relate to the Tournament.
2. Eligibility
This Tournament is open solely to Players who are residents of Canada and who are 13 years or older at the time of entry. Players must have access to a Microsoft Xbox 360 video game system, the Microsoft Games Studio game title Project Gotham Racing 3, a valid Xbox Live Gold account and valid .Net passport account with their Xbox Live gamertag linked and be in good standing on xbox.com and the Xbox Live service.
Those that meet the eligibility requirements set forth above are eligible to participate and may register as set forth below (section 3). Employees of Microsoft Corporation and members of their immediate families (defined for purposes of these rules as husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, or other persons residing in the household of such employees), their subsidiaries and affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, or any person working on the product, project, or promotion or others providing services in connection with this Tournament are not eligible to participate.
3. Registration/Qualifying
Any Player that wishes to participate in the Tournament must register at www.pgr3tournament.com. Registration will be open from 12:01 AM PT on April 6, 2006 until 11:59 PM PT on April 28, 2006 ("Registration Period"). All Players that register agree to be contacted for the sole purpose of this Tournament. Registering for the Tournament and expressing your interest in no way guarantees that you will be qualified to participate. Microsoft reserves the right to verify all eligibility (as stated in section 2) even after registration has been closed.
Each Player may only compete using a single Xbox online identification nametag, also known as a gamertag ("Gamertag"). If Players are found to have competed fraudulently under multiple identities or Gamertags, they will be automatically disqualified from the Tournament and could be disqualified from participating in future Xbox competitions.
Eligible Players must be sure that their Xbox Live account information including email addresses and address/phone is correct and current.
Updating Account Information
Players are solely responsible for keeping their Xbox Live account information up to date for all information pertaining to registration and/or qualifying for any Tournament. All changes for e-mail addresses, phone number, etc. need to be completed in advance of the end date of the Registration Period on April 28, 2006. Change requests made the same day made not be reflected immediately.
If Players fail to update their account information for Xbox Live, then they may not be contacted to play in the Tournament and may be disqualified from competing.
Updating Account Information:
To verify/update a Player's Xbox Live Contact Information:
1. From the Xbox 360 Xbox Live Dashboard Blade select your Gamercard.
2. Select Account Management.
3. Select Contact Information.
4. Enter the password associated with your linked Passport Account.
5. Select "Sign In".
6. Verify and (if needed) edit your contact information.
7. Select "Done".
4. How to Play
On Monday, April 17, 2006 the PGR3 Global Tournament will open for competition. Beginning on April 17, 2006, through Sunday April 30, 2006 Players will compete to qualify for one of 64 final North America Regional elimination tournament spots. Starting Thursday May 4, 2006 through May 7, 2006 the top 64 registered players in North America will compete in a single elimination tournament. The single elimination tournament will consist of 4 rounds of 8 player brackets. The top 4 players from each bracket will move on to the next round. The top 4 players in the final round will qualify for the Xbox Live PGR3 Global Tournament Worldwide Finals that takes place in Sant'Agata, Italy at the Lamborghini Factory.

How to Play in the PGR3 Global Tournament
Players can participate in the PGR3 Global Tournament by following the below steps. An Xbox Live Gold membership, an Xbox 360 Entertainment System and a copy of PGR3 are required to access the tournament.
To join the PGR3 Worldwide Tournament:
* Start Project Gotham Racing 3
* Select Gotham Career
* Select Tournaments
* Select Official Global Tournament
Depending on when you join and how you've performed, you will see one of the following:
* Qualify - if this is your first tournament race during the qualification period
o The following race settings will be displayed here: city, route, car, gear type, and qualification bar (the time you have to beat to place in the top 64)
* Re-qualify - if this is not your first tournament race during the qualification period
o The following race settings will be displayed here: your best time, seeding, qualification bar, city, route, car, and gear type
* Elimination Phase - if you qualified as one of the top 64 at the end of the qualification period
o Start Race: this takes you to the lobby for the tournament race, where you can see the list of competitors
o View Bracket: this displays the tournament bracket
Game Settings
The North American qualifying round will take place on Tokyo's Nishigushi Short route, 3 laps.
The North America Regional Elimination round will take place on Las Vegas' South Strip Loop, 3 laps.
Determining the Winner
At approximately, 12:01AM PT on May 1, 2006, the PGR3 Regional Qualifying Tournament overall leaderboard will be recorded, and the 64 highest ranking eligible Tournament Players will be invited to compete in the North America Regional Elimination Tournament that will take place over Xbox Live starting on May 4, 2006. Please note: there may be ineligible Players ranked on the leaderboard. In that event, the next highest ranked eligible Player will be determined the winner and awarded a spot in the regional elimination tournament. On or around May 3, 2006 the regional elimination bracket and playing times will be posted at www.pgr3tournament.com. Players will be responsible for verifying their bracket time slot prior to the opening round of the regional tournament on May 4, 2006. Players who do not show up for their scheduled round will forfeit their chance to compete in the regional elimination tournament.
On May 8, 2006 the top 4 qualified players from the North American Regional Elimination tournament will be awarded the opportunity to attend the Xbox Live PGR3 Global Tournament Worldwide Finals in Sant' Agata, Italy.
Once a Player has confirmed their participation at the PGR3 Xbox Live Final, they will be contacted by a representative from Microsoft, to begin arranging their travel to Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy for the PGR3 Xbox Live Final. The PGR3 Global Tournament Worldwide Finals will be a competition among the top 12 PGR3 players from around the world. The Players will be provided full terms and conditions for the PGR3 Xbox Live Finals upon prize acceptance.
5. Code of Conduct
Any Player competing in an unsportsmanlike manner or in a manner that is not in compliance with these rules or the xbox.com or Xbox Live 'Terms of Use' may be immediately disqualified from the Tournament and may be disqualified from competing in any future xbox.com or Xbox Live events. Unsportsmanlike conduct includes, but is not limited to, the following violations:
Unsportsmanlike conduct (voice):
* Swearing or threats
* Spamming or screaming
* Harassment
* Lewdness
* Using any device to create loud sounds
* Any other type of conduct deemed inappropriate
Unsportsmanlike conduct (gameplay):
* Cheating of any sort through various means
* Continuous pauses during the gameplay
* Delaying or slowing gameplay using various tactics
* Intentionally disconnecting the network cable
* Intentionally interrupting network connectivity
* Using any type of modified teams
* Any other known or unknown way of tampering with gameplay
6. Prizes:
At the conclusion of the Regional Tournament, prizes will be awarded by Microsoft as follows:
(4) Regional Tournament Grand Prize Winners
* An invitation to compete in the Xbox Live PGR3 Global Tournament Worldwide finals taking place at the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata, Italy.
* A trip for winner and a guest to Sant' Agata, Italy departing on Sunday June 11, 2006 and returning on Thursday June 15, 2006.
* An official Xbox Live PGR3 Lamborghini Jacket
* A limited edition PGR3 Xbox 360 Faceplate
* Dates/Location subject to change at Microsoft's sole discretion.
Trip includes round trip coach airfare from major airport closest to winner's home, 4-nights standard double occupancy hotel accommodations (one room, two people), and transportation to and from the PGR3 Xbox Live Final. Approximate retail value of Grand Prize Winner package (US $3,500). Actual value depends on date/time/destination, and difference between actual value and stated value will not be awarded. Travel subject to availability and must be completed on dates specified by Microsoft or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner if time allows. Some restrictions may apply. No cancellation of reservation or transfer of reservation to another date after reservation has been made. Difference between actual value and stated value will not be awarded. Any applicable tax on a prize is the sole responsibility of the winner. No substitution or transfer of a prize is permitted except at the sole discretion of Microsoft. If a winner cannot or will not accept a prize, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the next highest ranked Player. Microsoft reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if entire prize or a portion of the prize is unavailable. Specifics of prize package are subject to availability and Microsoft's sole discretion. If the Tournament is cancelled for any reason, the Microsoft shall have no further obligation to the winner other than to provide the travel portion of the prize minus the opportunity to compete in the event. If the winner is a minor, their travel companion must be a parent or legal guardian. Winner and travel companion are solely responsible for obtaining any necessary travel documents. Travel companion (parent/guardian if companion is a minor) must sign & return a release of liability, and where legal, a publicity release before any travel prize is delivered to winner. Any and all guarantees, warranties and conditions are subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions, and winners and guests agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty, conditions or guarantee claim. Please Note: The dates for the trip are subject to change at the sole discretion of Microsoft. Therefore, the winner must have flexible travel plans.
7. Conduct By entering the Tournament, Players agree to be bound by these Official Rules and any other xbox.com and Xbox Live terms and conditions referenced in the rules. The Official Rules will be posted at the xbox.com site throughout the Tournament. Players further agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and the Tournament commissioner, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Microsoft reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify an individual it finds to be tampering with the type, process, or operation of the game or Web site, to be acting in violation of the Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A PLAYER OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAMES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
8. Limitations of Liability
TO THE EXTENT THAT ANY PLAYER IS REQUIRED TO DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS TOURNAMENT THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SECTION SHALL APPLY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, COPYING OR REPRODUCTION OF THE SOFTWARE TO ANY OTHER SERVER OR LOCATION FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR REDISTRIBUTION IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. THE SOFTWARE IS WARRANTED, IF AT ALL, ONLY ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THE APPLICABLE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT. EXCEPT AS WARRANTED IN THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT, MICROSOFT CORPORATION HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS WHICH REGARD TO THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
Microsoft is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Tournament or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of game plays. Microsoft does not assume any responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access which may result in alteration of game plays or game results. Microsoft responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or registration to be received by Microsoft or Player on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in the Tournament. Microsoft is not responsible for the inability of any Player to access or complete a game due to any technical malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof. Microsoft in their sole discretion, may require the replaying of any game or round or section, or declare any of the foregoing null and void by reason of any technical or other system error. If for any reason the Tournament is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other causes beyond the control of Microsoft which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Tournament, Microsoft reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Tournament. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, in the event that Microsoft determines, in its sole discretion, that any individual games or rounds within the Tournament have been tampered with or that the validity of any games or rounds has been compromised for any reason, it may eliminate that game or round from the Tournament and conduct the Tournament on the basis of the remaining games or rounds. In the event that any Player is adversely affected in a game or round by any technical or equipment malfunction, Microsoft reserves the right to schedule special games or rounds among any such Players so adversely affected. In the event of a dispute, a Player's identity shall be declared to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of registration. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
9. General Conditions
The conduct of this Tournament and the interpretation and enforcement of these Official Rules is governed by the laws of the United States. In the event that any dispute arises regarding the Tournament, Players agree that the dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington without regard to conflicts of law provisions and that such disputes shall be resolved within and by the courts of that state. All federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations apply. Prizewinners may be required to execute 'Affidavits of Eligibility' and 'Liability/Publicity Releases' within 2 days of winner determination. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and an alternate winner being selected. The winners travel guest (parent/legal guardian if companion is a minor) must execute and return a release of liability before travel arrangements will be confirmed. In the event that a winner is determined to be ineligible, a special playoff round will be conducted among those Players who competed in the final round of the Tournament to determine a winner. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner in accordance with the same procedure outlined above. All winners and Players grant Microsoft the right to publish, online and in print, their Gamertag, names, likenesses, city of residence, and the name of the state or province in which they live, without compensation. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Microsoft and their advertising and promotional agencies to use winner's names, city of residence, and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.
By entering, Players release and hold harmless Microsoft, Lamborghini and any respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, including but not limited to, personal injury or death, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Tournament or any prize won.
10. Winners List
The names of the Tournament winner will be posted on the Internet at www.pgr3tournament.com immediately after the conclusion of the Tournament.

7. Conduct By entering the Tournament, Players agree to be bound by these Official Rules and any other xbox.com and Xbox Live terms and conditions referenced in the rules. The Official Rules will be posted at the xbox.com site throughout the Tournament. Players further agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and the Tournament commissioner, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Microsoft reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify an individual it finds to be tampering with the type, process, or operation of the game or Web site, to be acting in violation of the Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person. 8. Limitations of Liability
TO THE EXTENT THAT ANY PLAYER IS REQUIRED TO DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS TOURNAMENT THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SECTION SHALL APPLY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, COPYING OR REPRODUCTION OF THE SOFTWARE TO ANY OTHER SERVER OR LOCATION FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR REDISTRIBUTION IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. THE SOFTWARE IS WARRANTED, IF AT ALL, ONLY ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THE APPLICABLE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT. EXCEPT AS WARRANTED IN THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT, MICROSOFT CORPORATION HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS WHICH REGARD TO THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

Microsoft does not assume any responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access which may result in alteration of game plays or game results. Microsoft responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or registration to be received by Microsoft or Player on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in the Tournament. Microsoft is not responsible for the inability of any Player to access or complete a game due to any technical malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof. Microsoft in their sole discretion, may require the replaying of any game or round or section, or declare any of the foregoing null and void by reason of any technical or other system error. If for any reason the Tournament is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other causes beyond the control of Microsoft which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Tournament, Microsoft reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Tournament. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, in the event that Microsoft determines, in its sole discretion, that any individual games or rounds within the Tournament have been tampered with or that the validity of any games or rounds has been compromised for any reason, it may eliminate that game or round from the Tournament and conduct the Tournament on the basis of the remaining games or rounds. In the event that any Player is adversely affected in a game or round by any technical or equipment malfunction, Microsoft reserves the right to schedule special games or rounds among any such Players so adversely affected. In the event of a dispute, a Player's identity shall be declared to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of registration. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
9. General Conditions
The conduct of this Tournament and the interpretation and enforcement of these Official Rules is governed by the laws of the United States. In the event that any dispute arises regarding the Tournament, Players agree that the dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington without regard to conflicts of law provisions and that such disputes shall be resolved within and by the courts of that state. All federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations apply. Prizewinners may be required to execute 'Affidavits of Eligibility' and 'Liability/Publicity Releases' within 2 days of winner determination. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and an alternate winner being selected. The winners travel guest (parent/legal guardian if companion is a minor) must execute and return a release of liability before travel arrangements will be confirmed. In the event that a winner is determined to be ineligible, a special playoff round will be conducted among those Players who competed in the final round of the Tournament to determine a winner. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner in accordance with the same procedure outlined above. All winners and Players grant Microsoft the right to publish, online and in print, their Gamertag, names, likenesses, city of residence, and the name of the state or province in which they live, without compensation. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Microsoft and their advertising and promotional agencies to use winner's names, city of residence, and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.
By entering, Players release and hold harmless Microsoft, Lamborghini and any respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, including but not limited to, personal injury or death, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Tournament or any prize won.
