TTR member XxSpeedRacerxX is THE BEST PGR3 player on the planet. It's official. The stats don't lie, and out of the hundreds of thousands of gamers who have taken the game online, one name stands out above the rest. Based on consistency and just sheer overall skill, XxSpeedRacerxX is number one.
So instead of just sending him a poster or something, we thought we'd do something a little bit cooler. How do we do that? Well, look out for the upcoming "Champions Super Tournament", which is now available to race on Xbox Live. The parameters (cars, tracks, settings) have been completely chosen by the world champion; entirely to his specification!
We spoke to XxSpeedRacerxX and got the skinny on his tournament selection...
Bizarre: Hi XxSpeedRacerxX, and thanks for agreeing to have a chat with us Bizarre folk! You're the best PGR3 player in the world... how cool is that?
SPEED: Well, it's really cool. I'm just happy to have the opportunity to experience this because I know that there are a lot of really good players out there that could have done the same thing.
Bizarre: Please quickly introduce yourself to the PGR3 community... where are you from and how long have you been playing video games?
SPEED:I'm 18 years old. I live near Kansas City, Missouri and I've been playing video games since I was 5 or 6.
Bizarre: So were you a launch day PGR3 gamer, or did you pick up the game after it had been out a couple of weeks? How many hours a day do you practice?
SPEED:I was racing online about 45 minutes after launch. How much I play a day varies by quite a bit. Sometimes I don't get on at all and other times I play for hours at a time, but on average about 3 hours a night.
Bizarre: There are tonnes of really excellent PGR3 players in the world. Have you raced against anyone who you thought was particularly skilled, or a worthy opponent?
SPEED: Yes, I've raced a lot of particularly skilled opponents, but if I had to pick one and only one it would have to be xMaxFATAL1TYx.
Bizarre: Do you have a favourite city?
SPEED: Yes, Nurburgring.
Bizarre: A favourite car?
SPEED:The TVR Cerbera Speed 12, mostly because it's so hard to drive well.
Bizarre: So, you're getting your very own tournament! Let's go through a few of your choices... Firstly, which car and track do you want to use for qualification? Is the track raced forward, or reverse? Should it take place at day or night?
SPEED:Track: Las Vegas Blvd Tour (Las Vegas)
Car: Callaway Sledgehammer Twin Turbo
Direction: Normal
Time of day: Day
Note: There is a known wall ride on the first turn. If you plan on making it to the top 64 racers you had better take it. If you need to see how to do it you can go to race against the clock and watch TTR Mclaren F1's game clip in A class.
Bizarre: Heat 1, which car and track? Forward or reverse? Day or night?
SPEED: Track: ShinjukuSpeedway (Tokyo)
Car: Callaway C7
Direction: Reverse
Time of day: Day
Laps: 3
Note: This track is in reverse to prevent wallriding.
Bizarre: Heat 2, which car and track? Forward or reverse? Day or night?
SPEED:Track: Old City Loop (London)
Car: Ariel Atom 300 Supercharged
Direction: Normal
Time of day: Day
Laps: 4
Bizarre: Heat 3, which car and track? Forward or reverse? Day or night?
SPEED: Track: Full F1 Circuit (Nurburgring)
Car: Ferrari F50
Direction: Reverse
Time of day: Day
Laps: 3
Note: This track is in reverse to prevent people from cutting the chicane.
Bizarre: The final round, which car and track? Forward or reverse? Day or night?
SPEED: Track: Nordschleife (Nurburgring)
Car: TVR Cerbera Speed Twelve
Direction: Normal
Time of day: Overcast
Back to the good old days!
Bizarre: That's excellent... I'm sure lots and lots of gamers will be looking forward to the start of your tournament. Again, congratulations on reaching number one, and thanks for your time!
