this stuff is too expensive any ways dude, im telling you. unless you want something to play around with. to be competitive takes years of experience and mechanical knowledge of the cars, and parts, and you have to have a sh*t ton of money to stay ahead of the game

I am not gonna race probly
this is what he said on a forum we both go to
yea i got an rtr 3, upgraded to the 12rss motor a cvec pipe, 2 or 3 sets of wheels, suspension and a 2 gear tranny. i dont use it at all anymore, just because with the new motor i had to keep setting it up to line up well and it didnt and stripped gears. plus this was 2 or 3 years ago and i didnt know how to make it stay in place. it came with a viper body but then i got a gt3 and a saleen s7 body. ill post some pics later but if anyone wants it and everything i have for it which is a lot of random spare parts, they can take it for like $100 and its cost me over $500. ill put a post of it in the classified part later on.

sounds like a hpi nitro rs4 3
|
|
|
Post by munsonator08 on Feb 6, 2007 19:26:10 GMT -4
thats what i would say. hpi sounds as close to that as it can get.
i dunno man, gettin into nitro for your first car is a big step, constantly tuning it and you dont know how good the engine is in it. but its your money you can do what ya want with it.
if it were me id start out with a electric car.

you can get electric cars that can run around 50 or so mph. a nitro probably about the same, its all in the gearing, and how good your stuff is.
when i raced we hit around 40, but we needed more acceleration than top end. plus with jumps and everything its a hard time to set up for a jump and load the car off of it, with a higher gear.
road racing with touring cars we had a happy medium, speed was constantly up, and you didnt lose alot during turns, so a top end gear was the way to go on some tracks, get indoors on carpet then you need a lower gear so you can overcome the friction of the carpet. and the courses were alot tighter.
oval we raced with a midrange gear. wound out on the straightaways, but had to have the oomf to get out of the turns quickly, we ran like 60 laps in 4 minutes on that track.

but i have heard of pan cars that run upwards of 75 mph and they draft, but the track is enormous, its a bicycle track that is indoors. ive never ran on it but i know some people that have, said if you hit the wall your buying a new car. it just shatters the car in pieces.

well, went up to the hobby shop today, one of my friends let me drive his car, and after a year without picking up a radio i ran just as fast as the 2 fastest guys there.
so it looks like im coming out of retirement.
im going to buy a car tomorrow, and new batteries, speed control, electronics, charger, etc... so i figured around 1500.00
i will be racing again by next weekend.
god i love touring cars, so planted and fun to drive.
